Are you loving you?

If not, I think it is about time that you start !

We are our own test subjects in love. We can test out how to love others on ourselves.

I will start off with saying this; I believe it is important to love yourself. It is crazy, because what does that really mean? Isn’t love an action that is supposed to be extended to someone else? Isn’t love an action that you bestow upon an external thing? This concept of loving yourself is full of questions, opinions, emotions and confusion. It is a concept that we must visit often, to make sure that we are still trying to succeed in this area.

How are we to love others when we can’t love ourselves?

This is a genuine question; think about it?

We are our own test subjects in love. We can test out how to love others on ourselves.

For example, if you want to be kind to others, try being kind to yourself; so that you get in the habit of doing it.

I would never call anyone ugly or think that of them; so why would I treat myself any different.

I choose to love myself. I truly do love myself.

I am the person that knows myself better then anyone, besides the Lord. If I can’t love myself knowing my mess, then how am I going to love others in their mess. I am my own best friend, before anyone else is. I can practice loving myself and hopefully that will help me love others better.

I do not always succeed in loving myself. In all honesty, sometimes I fail horribly. I beat myself up about stuff, think lowly about myself and forget to extend grace to myself.

But, besides that, I generally love who I am. I like hanging out with me. I find myself funny. I do believe that I am beautiful, even though I must remind myself often. I am talented, and I have self-worth. God has put something great in me and I am excited to spend my life unpacking it. I am a THUG for the kingdom of Heaven; meaning, the Devil better watch out. God has made me a warrior, and Hell better be scared.

Even though all the above facts about me are true, I must constantly work at believing them and living them out.

The hardest times that I have loving myself, is when I mess up. Whenever I do something stupid, I have a hard time loving me. But, if God loves me when I mess up and Jesus still died for me knowing I was going to do stupid things; then I can love myself during those times as well.

Moriah to Moriah: “Give yourself a break girl, you are human and sometimes you do stupid human things.”

This is not an easy task, it does take work, but it is necessary.

For me, I must love God first and then myself so that I can love others correctly.

What do you think it means to love yourself? Are you doing it?

If not, I think it is about time that you start loving you!

Prayer of you need:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for your love. I thank you that you created me to be loved by you, myself and others. Lord I pray that we will remember to love ourselves. Lord please show us what’s in us that is lovable, so that we will see what you see in us. Thank you, Lord,

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen
