Throughout life, there will be opportunities and situations that demand a choice to stand or roll over and give up. The choice that we make, will either make, break, or hinder us from becoming all that God has called us to be. Think about it.. LIFE IS ALL ABOUT CHOICES!
As we journey back to the beginning, with Adam and Eve, we see this played out very clearly. Genesis 2:15-16 says, “The Lord God placed man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord warned him, you may freely eat of every tree in the garden except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. (IF)you eat of it you will surely die”. As we see Adam, one decision to disobey affected the whole creation with SIN that led to DEATH. He chose not to STAND, but God loved us so much that He eventually sent His Only Begotten Son, JESUS, who would make the Ultimate Choice to STAND for all humanity..
But the story I wanted to focus on today is the one in the book of Daniel. It's the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, the Jewish exiles and friends of Daniel. They were given the position of leadership in Babylon. One thing that stood out to me were their faithfulness to God and how they trusted Him entirely. While they showed deep respect for King Nebuchadnezzar, they were unwilling to follow any orders that would mean compromising their faith. When commanded to worship the golden image, they refused to do so, because they honored God above the earth king they were under. And God honored them by delivering them from the fiery furnace.
There have been times in my life in the areas of health, family, and finances, where I had to decide to stand. Was it difficult, yes, but in the end, just like the Hebrew Boys, I recognized that JESUS was in the fire with me and I came out victorious.
Remaining steadfast while standing, ensures us of sweet victory. The enemy shall come, but like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. We Win. No matter how difficult it gets or how tough the situation looks. Allow the words from Ephesians 6:10-18 to guide you, “ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you might be able to STAND against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, the cosmic powers, this present darkness in heavenly places. Therefore, take all the armor that you may be able to STAND in the evil day and have done all to STAND, STAND therefore”....... Brothers and Sisters remember, after you have done all you can STAND knowing that WE WIN.
